As you know, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is conducting an inquiry into special education policy at CPS. Last Friday at 1:46 PM, LIz Kirby, CPS Chief of School Strategy and Planning, sent the following email to principals encouraging them to cooperate with the inquiry by sending the attached flyer home with students. ISBE is also interviewing staff members. However, today and tomorrow (Wednesday) are the last two days for parents to participate in the public inquiry.
If you have parents or staff who can give ISBE a sense of how CPS special education policies are impacting your school's ability to get services to students who need them, please forward this information to them today.
A special confidential in-person session for principals and other school administrators will be held on March 5, 2018. More information is forthcoming.

Chicago Public Schools is participating in an ISBE Inquiry process. The ISBE Inquiry Team has been meeting with families and have offered a venue for parents to share their experiences.
I know this is short notice, however the ISBE Inquiry Team will be having 3 sessions next week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at various locations throughout the city.
Please, if possible, send this flyer home with students who are identified as being on an IEP in your school.
Thank you again, and I apologize for the short notice. We received this information this morning.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Keenan, Chief of ODLSS
Thanks for everything you do for the children of Chicago Public Schools!
Respectfully,
Troy
