Protecting Principals via the Initiative to Defend Effective Academic Leadership (IDEAL)

Dear School Leaders:

CPAA recently held the first convening for the Initiative to Defend Effective Academic Leadership (IDEAL). The meeting was hugely significant and we were able to identify key issues upon which to further explore CPS' disciplinary policies and practices. Please see THIS DOCUMENT for a summary of our findings.

CPAA is hosting a second convening and working group session for current, former, or retired principals on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017 from 6-8 PM. The session will take place in the private room of Pompei Restaurant -- 1531 W. Taylor St. (Metered parking is available on the street or complimentary parking (as spaces allow) may be available in the lot behind the restaurant. Dinner will be provided).

We need your help to recruit more principals to share their stories with us as well as to become part of the IDEAL team.

What we need from you:
1) Complete this form or send it to any other current, former, and/or retired principals so that they can share their disciplinary experience with us and help us build our database.

2) Invite any and all principals you know to our session on Tuesday, December 5.

3) If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Mia Maynard at mmaynard@mycpaa.com or (312) 263-7767.

The idea for the convening and the issues we identified with regard to CPS’ current principal discipline and removal process came from IDEAL team members. Your feedback is invaluable. The more participation we have in these sessions, the better we will be able to advocate on behalf of our principals.

Respectfully

Troy LaRaviere

President
