Big News: Your Compensation - What we just accomplished

"CPS not only released the damaging hourly rate comparisons on the date of our deadline but also announced they will reconsider administrator pay."

School Leaders,

Today CPS finally relented to revisiting administrator compensation and it is extremely important that we all understand the events that led to today's announcement. For nearly three months CPAA has been working to get CPS to start the process of raising administrator salaries. One of our main tactics was to use the Freedom of Information Act to compel them to release the inequitable hourly rate comparisons of administrators vs. teachers, which CPS refused to release for nearly three months.

Then, this week, our contract attorneys at Blaine and Vanzant served CPS officials with a warning letter letting them know that if the compensation information is not released by December 20 (today), we would file a lawsuit compelling them to release it. In response, CPS not only released the damaging hourly rate comparisons on the date of our deadline (today) but also announced they will reconsider administrator pay.

Please take a moment to follow this link and read the warning letter that forced today's announcement from CPS.  Today's announcement came as the result of pressure and it will take continued pressure to get a fair compensation package for you and your colleagues.

If you are interested in being part of the CPAA working group that will develop our proposed compensation package follow this link to sign up.

CPAA will continue working to support our members and the students and families you serve.
