News and Advocacy

Principals are the backbone of Chicago’s public schools, the steady force ensuring that students and communities thrive despite the turmoil.

Right now, there’s a crucial struggle about to unfold in the Illinois Legislature that will impact every staff member, student, and family in Chicago’s schools.

Thank you to the principals and assistant principals who participated in the Elected School Board Forums last week. It was crucial for laying the groundwork for inclusion after the elections.

Our second two-minute video from last week’s Chicago Board of Education Meeting is composed almost entirely of direct quotes from the men and women who lead Chicago's schools.

In recognition of Principal Appreciation Week, CPAA has produced a two-minute video highlighting the tremendous amount of work that each of you do, while emphasizing the need to advocate for sufficient staffing in your schools.

As the March 2018 primaries in Illinois approach, the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association (CPAA) has teamed up with Our Revolution Illinois and several other organizations to co-sponsor a gubernatorial debate.

As you know, Illinois’ governor can have a significant impact on the funding that comes -- or does not come -- to Chicago Public Schools. So join us on Sunday, October 8, 2017 to hear the Democratic candidates for governor speak about their experiences and platforms.
