Chicago’s first elected school board will be determined in the November 5, 2024, general election. Forty-seven candidates have now officially submitted their nominating petitions.
The Chicago Principals and Administrators Association (CPAA) will be front and center throughout this campaign process. As the exclusive voice of Principals and Assistant Principals, our mission is to support school leaders' efforts to unlock the boundless potential of students in Chicago’s public schools. The elected school board is critical to that end.
It is crucial for Chicago's principals and assistant principals to lead the process of electing the first-ever Elected School Board. As individuals who lead our schools and understand the unique challenges and needs of our educational communities, our participation ensures that those making decisions for us and about us are well-informed and inclusive of our perspectives.
CPAA is committed to fostering an informed electorate that can make educated decisions at the polls. To this end, we will be organizing various initiatives to connect candidates with the community and facilitate meaningful discussions about the future of education in Chicago. Critical to that end is ensuring that everyone has a clear understanding of the candidates, their platforms, and the role we all play in crafting the educational agenda for our communities.
Principals and Assistant Principals play a vital role in the landscape of education. Any serious candidate should be interested and informed by the wealth of knowledge principals offer.
