CPAA Statement on Speculation Regarding CPS CEO Pedro Martinez

The Chicago Principals and Administrators Association (CPAA) generally refrains from responding to speculation. However, we recognize that recent rumors surrounding the potential removal of Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez have gained attention. We believe this discussion is an ill-timed distraction from the pressing issues facing our school leaders, including troubling resource allocations, safety and security concerns, decreased emotional and enrichment supports for students, and increased operational inefficiencies.

Regardless of any changes in the executive office, Chicago’s principals and assistant principals remain fully committed to serving their communities with unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. All summer, our school leaders have been hard at work, making sure that, despite the obstacles, students and their families are ready for the new school year and can trust in our support for their growth and development.

As we prepare to welcome students back on August 26th, our focus remains on Chicago's children. Whether or not CEO Pedro Martinez continues in his role, Chicago’s school leaders will be present in theirs; ready and eager to start the new school year.
