AFSA has embarked on an official collaboration with the largest network of school leaders in Italy, Senza Zaino.

Back in May, former Vice President Joe Biden won the AFL-CIO endorsement for president; it was announced in a 10-minute speech by federation President Richard Trumka.

Dear AFSA Family,

Happy Labor Day.

This holiday is usually a time when public school educators celebrate the advances we have made for our profession and the start of a new school year. But this year is like no other. Today, it is hard to be excited and happy with the uncertainty brought on by COVID-19 and the crazy politics bombarding us every day.

CPS principals and assistant principals have worked longer and harder than any other staff in the district during this COVID-19 crisis. Yet district management continues to insult school leaders and take them for granted.

After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, those looking to kill public education in New Orleans took the opportunity and ran with it. Now, with schools closed across the United States because of the coronavirus crisis, will those preaching privatization make another big push?

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has made no secret about it, she is using the coronavirus crisis to move forward on her longstanding objective of using public dollars to support access to private schools.
