As we continue to confront the devastating realities of the proposed SY26-27 school budgets, I want to remind every member that CPAA’s first and most urgent priority has been fighting to protect Assistant Principals as foundational positions in every school.
TAKE ACTION! Contact your elected school board members (listed by district in the table below) and remind them that YOUR CHILDREN and THEIR SCHOOLS MATTER.
If you need help balancing the books, ask the leaders who manage their own abysmal budgets every year; we continuously find solutions that aren’t this detrimental to our children.

Two months ago, CPS’s Talent Office announced there was no money in the district’s budget for principal and assistant principal raises. This morning, however, they announced a four-year $15,000 raise for principals and assistant principals.

What happened to change their minds?

A growing number of college-bound high school seniors and their parents would now prefer a college or university closer to home, according to a new report released today by Brian Communications, a national strategic communications agency.

I just got off the phone with Dr. Emily Oster, a strong advocate for reopening schools. She maintains the country's most cited school reopening database. She is one of several leading experts I've spoken with. I conferred with her specifically because CPS cites her data frequently to justify their reopening plan.

It is time Congress and the president support education with the resources needed during this COVID-19 crisis.
